- Monadnock Regional High School is a public school in Swanzey, New Hampshire. The school serves seven towns in the Monadnock Region, including (alphabetically) Fitzwilliam, Gilsum, Richmond, Roxbury, Sullivan, Swanzey, and Troy. Despite the town of Surry withdrawing from the Monadnock Regional School District in 2007, a few Surry students are still enrolled at the school. Since its establishment in the early 1960s, MRHS has followed a traditional curricular program. However, the new principal, Brian Pickering, has now begun working with the staff to revisit the school’s curricular goals, as well as its social and civic expectations of the student body. The motto of the school during the 2008-2009 year is "Monadnock on the Rise".
- Scheduling
-
Until the fall of 2006, the school operated on a 7 period schedule, with the fifth period divided into three 25-minute lunches. The new schedule consists of eight 46-minute periods. School days run from 7:23 AM to 2:17 PM. Buses leave 10 minutes later, about an hour earlier than local elementary schools, so that the buses can also run the routes of the elementary schools.
- Middle school
-
The Middle School is no longer considered separate from the high school. They operate in the same building and share many facilities, including the gymnasium, the library, and various specialized classrooms. However, students from the Middle School are generally kept in separate hallways and homerooms.
- Mission statement
-
"Monadnock Regional High School strives to engage all students in a quality education that enables them to develop and meet their individual goals and prepares them to lead satisfying, productive lives as global citizens."
