The Manalapan Township Committee has introduced an ordinance that would, if adopted, create an affordable housing overlay zone on a piece of property just outside Englishtown.

  • Manalapan High School is a comprehensive four-year public high school located in Englishtown, New Jersey, United States, as part of the Freehold Regional High School District.
  • Manalapan High School is home to the Science/Engineering Specialized Learning Center, or S&E, which is a program for students with an affinity for mathematical and scientific subjects. This rigorous program has anywhere between ten and forty students in each class and the curriculum consists of courses related to engineering, science and high level mathematics.
  • Manalapan also homes the Law Enforcement Public Safety Academy (LEPS) advised by social studies supervisor, M. Liley. Teachers include Bill Hagan (Freshman class) Brian Boyce (Sophomore Class) Bill Toncic (Sophomore Class)Dianna Keil (Physical Education). Advisors to the program also include Officer Felicia of the Manalapan Township Police Department, who is Manalapan High Schools, School Resource Officer (SRO). The students undergo a vigorous course load learning about such fields as criminal justice, first responder procedures, evidence collection, first aid certifications, investigative procedures, civics, Homeland Security, Fire Science & Safety, and Emergency Medical Technicians.
  • Under the federal No Child Left Behind Act, Manalapan High School has been declared a "Failing School" in the 2004-2005 year. As of 2006 Manalapan High School is a passing school.
  • As of the 2006-07 school year, the school had an enrollment of 1,933 students and 134 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student-teacher ratio of 14.4.
  • For the last seven years, the principal of the school was Terri Grey. After her retirement in January 2006, the school was assigned an interim principal, Dr. Procopio. At the beginning of the 2007-08 school year, Mr. Simon became the new principal.
  • The school was the 125th-ranked public high school in New Jersey out of 316 schools statewide, in New Jersey Monthly magazine's September 2008 cover story on the state's Top Public High Schools. The school was also ranked 125th in the magazine's September 2006 issue, which surveyed 316 schools across the state.
  • Athletics
  • The Manalapan High School Braves compete in the Shore Conference, an athletic conference made up of private and public high schools centered at the Northern Jersey Shore. All schools in this conference are located within Monmouth County and Ocean County. The league operates under the jurisdiction of the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA).
  • Manalapan's bowling team were the winners of the 2005-06 NJSIAA State Championship. The Brave's score of 2,840 defeated runner-up Woodbridge High School (2,830) at Carolier Lanes.
  • In 2007, the boys soccer team won the Central Jersey Group IV state sectional championship with a 1-0 win over Howell High School in the tournament final. The team moved on to share the Group IV state championship with a 1-1 tie against Clifton High School.
  • In 2008, a student from Manalapan won the NJSIAA Meet of Champions in the 800m run. He followed this up with the 1600m Group IV state championship in the 1600m run. Additionally he placed second in both the Millrose Games and Penn Relays, participating in the mile run on both occasions.
