Donations sought for ROTC gift auction (Tri-Town News)

Donations are being sought for a gift auction currently being planned for Feb. 20 to raise funds for the Jackson Memorial High School Air Force Junior ROTC. Funds raised will go toward financing a college scholarship program, equipping drill, color guard and academic teams and supporting after-school activities and trips.

Jackson Liberty High School and Jackson Memorial High School marching bands are joining together to remember those in need of food on Thanksgiving. They are asking everyone who attends the Thanksgiving Day football game, Nov. 25 at 6 p.m. at Jackson Liberty High School, to bring a donation for the Jackson Food Pantry.

Playing the No. 1 team in the state might make some coaches apprehensive, but Jackson Memorial High School girls soccer coach Drew Gibson was not hesitant about his team tackling the challenge of playing Lenape High School in the NJSIAA Group IV state tournament semifinals on Nov. 17.

Soccer can be a cruel sport, just ask the Manalapan High School Braves. The Braves created one scoring chance after another in their Nov. 12 Central Jersey Group IV state sectional tournament final at Jackson Memorial High School, but it was the host Jaguars who left the field as sectional champions following their 1-0 triumph on a rainy afternoon.

Jackson Memorial High School is a four-year comprehensive public high school located in Jackson Township, in Ocean County, New Jersey, United States, as part of the Jackson School District. It is the sister high school of Jackson Liberty High School, which first opened in the late summer of 2006.
In the 2006-07 school year, the school had an enrollment of 2,263 students and 141 classroom teachers (on a FTE basis, for a student-teacher ratio of 16.0.
The school was the 214th-ranked public high school in New Jersey out of 316 schools statewide, in New Jersey Monthly magazine's September 2008 cover story on the state's "Top Public High Schools". The school was ranked 193rd in the magazine's September 2006 issue, which surveyed 316 schools across the state.
History
Jackson Memorial High School first opened in 1964. Before then, students living in Jackson attended Lakewood High School. The school was originally a single, one story building with three wings. Around 1970, a second story was added to one wing. In the 1980s, it was expanded to include the nearby middle school which became known as the Clayton building. The original high school building was known as the memorial building in the early 1990s; later it was renamed the Bernie Reider Hall, for a longtime wrestling coach and former principal. The Fine Arts building, added ca. 1993, connects the once separate Clayton building, previously a middle school, and the two-story Bernie Reider Hall.
Athletics
The Jackson Memorial High School Jaguars compete in the Shore Conference, an athletic conference made up of private and public high schools centered at the Northern Jersey Shore. All schools in this conference are located within Monmouth County and Ocean County. The league operates under the jurisdiction of the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA).
Jackson is a powerhouse in many sports and its rivals are Toms River North, Toms River South, Toms River East, Brick Memorial, Of Champions Winners - 2006 - 2007
