When Darren Templeton walks again, his family is going to be right behind him. His parents, Cynthia and John Templeton of Kinnelon, founded Push to Walk, a nonprofit spinal-cord injury exercise and recovery center, almost three years ago, to help him recover.

He can reduce freshmen to tears and make proud soccer players want to throw away their cleats. He can also make an athlete perform far beyond they ever dared to dream and help teams put banners on their walls and trophies in their cases.

KINNELON — Darren Templeton is going to walk again. He is not sure when he will take his first steps. But the 23-year-old is absolutely sure it will happen during his lifetime.

Kinnelon High School is a four-year comprehensive public high school that serves students in ninth through twelfth grades from Kinnelon in Morris County, New Jersey, United States, as part of the Kinnelon Public Schools.
As of the 2005-06 school year, the school had an enrollment of 617 students and 49.0 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student-teacher ratio of 12.6.
The school was the 34th-ranked public high school in New Jersey out of 316 schools statewide, in New Jersey Monthly magazine's September 2008 cover story on the state's Top Public High Schools. The school was ranked 35th in the magazine's September 2006 issue, which included 316 schools across the state.
Athletics
Kinnelon High School competes in the Colonial Hills Conference, which is made up of public and parochial high schools covering Essex County, Morris County and Somerset County in west central New Jersey, under the jurisdiction of the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA).
On November 9, 2006, Kinnelon's girls soccer team won the North 1 Group I tournament, defeating Cresskill High School 5-0. The team then moved on to win the overall Group I state championship less than two weeks later, defeating Metuchen High School 2-1 on November 18, 2006, in a game played at the College of New Jersey.
The girls basketball team won the 2007 North 1 Group I sectional championship with a 48-37 win over Butler High School.
On March 22, 2008, the Kinnelon ice hockey team beat the Jefferson Township High School Falcons at the Prudential Center to win the Public B state tournament. The win was the team's first ever state championship.
