The Metuchen High School football team is back in the NJSIAA Central Group I semifinals. The No. 2 Bulldogs earned a place among the final four teams after beating Spotswood, 28-7, over the weekend. Last year's Metuchen team advanced to the title game.

The Metuchen High School girls soccer team began its quest for a sectional title with a 5-0 win over Manville on Nov. 5. With the victory, Metuchen advanced to the Central Jersey Group I semifinals against No. 3 David Brearley High School, which Metuchen defeated by a score of 2-1.

The Metuchen High School girls soccer team began its quest for a sectional title with a 5-0 win over Manville High School last week. With the victory, Metuchen improved to 11-4-1 and advanced to the Central Jersey Group I semifinals against No. 3 David Brearley High School, which was played yesterday.

The Metuchen High School football team attacked Cardinal McCarrick High School on the ground to win its fourth straight and improve to 6-2 on the season. The Bulldogs amassed over 250 yards on the ground to run away with a 35-0 victory over McCarrick.

Metuchen High School is a four-year comprehensive public high school that serves students in ninth through twelfth grades from Metuchen in Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States, as part of the Metuchen School District.
As of the 2006-07 school year, the school had an enrollment of 646 students and 48 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student-teacher ratio of 13.5.
Awards and recognition
The school was the 86th-ranked public high school in New Jersey out of 316 schools statewide, in New Jersey Monthly magazine's September 2008 cover story on the state's Top Public High Schools. The school was ranked 56th in the magazine's September 2006 issue, which surveyed 316 schools across the state.
Athletics
The Metuchen High School Bulldogs compete in the Greater Middlesex Conference, made up of public and private high schools located in the greater Middlesex County area. Metuchen is placed in the Gold Division for Football. The league operates under the supervision of the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association.
The school was recognized as the Group I winner of the NJSIAA ShopRite Cup in 2006-07. The NJSIAA ShopRite Cup is awarded based on points achieved for athletic achievement in each sport. The school that accumulates the most points according to this system is award the ShopRite Cup in each of the Groups I-IV, Group A and Group B. Because of this system of encompassing all athletic programs into the award, it recognizes the all around best athletic program of the school in each group in the state of New Jersey. The award for the 2006-07 ShopRite Cup recognized the school for achieving 2nd place in Girls Soccer, 2nd in Boys Soccer, 1st in Girls Cross Country, 4th in Boys Cross Country, a tie for 3rd in Football, and 1st in Boys Track and Field.
In 2007, the girls soccer team won the Central, Group I state sectional championship with a 1-0 win over Robbinsville High School in the tournament final. The win marked the team's third consecutive sectional title, their first three-peat since 1988-90. The team moved on to win the Group II state championship with a 1-0 win over Glen Ridge High School, the team's first ever state title.
