- Phillipsburg High School is a comprehensive, four-year public high school located in Phillipsburg, in Warren County, New Jersey, United States. This school is located in the eastern part of the Lehigh Valley, at the Pennsylvania border. For this reason, the school's nickname is the "Stateliners."
- The school is part of the Phillipsburg School District, an Abbott District that serves students from the town of Phillipsburg and from five area communities: Alpha, Bloomsbury (in Hunterdon County), Greenwich Township, Lopatcong Township and Pohatcong Township, who attend as part of sending/receiving relationships.
- As of the 2006-07 school year, the school had an enrollment of 1,735 students and 127 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 13.7.
- The school was the 275th-ranked public high school in New Jersey out of 316 schools statewide, in New Jersey Monthly magazine's September 2008 cover story on the state's Top Public High Schools. The school was ranked 234th in the magazine's September 2006 issue, which surveyed 316 schools across the state.
- On July 2, 2009, a Phillipsburg High School teacher, Kevin Kane, among others, was arrested for selling Oxycontin.
- Student population
-
Phillipsburg High School serves more than 1,700 students, in excess of the school's capacity. To compensate for this, the Phillipsburg School District either owns or leases 31 trailers. A plan for a new high school has been in the works for some time, but the current proposal has stalled due to lack of funds. Local parents have organized efforts to advocate on behalf of a new high school building.
- Athletics
-
Phillipsburg High School, a former member of the Lehigh Valley Conference, has an athletic rivalry with neighboring Easton, Pennsylvania's Easton Area High School. The two teams play an annual football game on Thanksgiving that is one of the oldest rivalries in American high school football. The game, which typically draws some 15,000 - 20,000 fans before Thanksgiving dinner is eaten, was broadcast nationally on ESPN in 1988. The rivalry, as always, was played on Lafayette College's Fisher Field in Easton. The 100th meeting between the two schools, which Easton won 21-7, was broadcast nationally on ESPN2 on Thanksgiving Day 2006.
- As of 2008 the Stateliners have 610 wins which is first in New Jersey and 124th in the nation. In 2008 the stateliners completed a 10-2 season beating Rahway high school 20-6 in the group 3 section 2 New Jersey football championship. 2008 postseason rankings put the stateliners at 13 in the state,1 in west jersey,5 in group 3 and 10 in the express-times. - The wrestling team won the 2007 North II, Group IV state sectional championship with a 34-25 win against Bridgewater-Raritan High School.
