  • Spotswood High School is a four-year comprehensive public high school, serving students in ninth through twelfth grade in Spotswood, in Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States, as part of the Spotswood Public Schools. Students from Milltown also attend as part of a sending/receiving relationship with the Milltown Public Schools. Students from Helmetta attend the school as well. Helmetta is the next town over from Spotswood and does not have a School District of their own. Unlike Milltown students, students from Helmetta attend school in Spotswood beginning in Grammar School.
  • As of the 2005-06 school year, the school had an enrollment of 798 students and 54.8 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student-teacher ratio of 14.6.
  • The school was the 126th-ranked public high school in New Jersey out of 316 schools statewide, in New Jersey Monthly magazine's September 2008 cover story on the state's Top Public High Schools. The school was ranked 183rd in the magazine's September 2006 issue, which surveyed 316 schools across the state.
  • Awards and recognition
  • During the 1992-93 school year, Spotswood High School was awarded the Blue Ribbon School Award of Excellence by the United States Department of Education, the highest award an American school can receive. Unfortunately the award would not be given out today. The school's teachers were the lowest paid in New Jersey up until 2008.
  • Athletics
  • The Spotswood High School Chargers compete in the Blue Division of the Greater Middlesex Conference.
  • Cross Country
  • The Men's Cross Country Team had a 33 consecutive dual meet winning streak from 2001-2006. The team qualified for its first ever Meet of Champions in the 2005 season, by finishing second to Cranford High School in the State Group II meet. The team finished 13th in the 2005 Meet of Champions.
  • The team finished 2nd in both the State Sectional and Group meets. In 2006 the men's team won the State Group II Title and again advanced to the Meet of Champions.
  • Baseball
  • 2007 Central Jersey Group II Champions, with a 1-0 win over Somerville High School.
  • 2007 GMC Tournament Champions
  • 2007 NJSIAA Group II Baseball State Champions, defeating Sterling High School 13-2 in the semifinals and Indian Hills High School 11-1 in the group final.

  • 2004 Blue Division Champions under the coaching of Gary Hull and Jeff Marvinny
