Jericho High School is an American high school in the hamlet of Jericho in Nassau County, New York. It is the only high school in the Jericho Union Free School District. It opened in 1959.
Academics
In the 2009 Newsweek magazine's annual list of the Top 1200 American High Schools, Jericho High School is ranked 38th.[1] In US News & World Report's list of the Best High Schools in America it ranks 58. It offers many Advanced Placement classes, Syracuse University SUPA credit classes, has among the highest average SAT scores in the country, and spends more money on each student than nearly all other Long Island schools. College placements from Jericho High School typically include a large number attending the Ivy League institutions, NYU, SUNY, and many other first and second tier national institutions.
Athletics
The sports teams are known as the Jayhawks. Jericho High School has long-standing rivalries with neighboring Great Neck South High School, Long Beach High School, Syosset High School and Roslyn High School. They hold a top spot every year for the boys basketball, boys soccer, tennis, volleyball, swimming, and many more.
