Chelsea High School, formerly Chelsea Vocational High School, is a public high school located in SoHo, Manhattan in New York City. Though the school occupies a facility that is over 100 years old, it keeps up with technological advancements in education.-->>Brain Rosenbloom
General Information
The school used to houses three smaller schools: Chelsea Technical Academy, the Soho Business Academy, and the Soho Communication Arts Academy. The school offers basketball, volleyball, and track as extra-curricular sports activities. They recently added a weight room where the supply room was located in the 1st floor. The school's newspaper, the Chelsea Vanguard, was relaunched after more than fifty years of absence in 2006. The school building is physically small so it does not have a very big gym and lockers. Most students take physical education in the auditorium and are allowed to play any sports. The cafeteria is also small so all students except freshmen, who are not allowed to, go out for lunch.
Academic Programs
It is one of the few schools in the New York City public schools system to offer Cisco Networking Academy. Chelsea also offers the Morgan Stanley Mentoring Program in which students are paired up with a mentor who is an employee at Morgan Stanley. The Morgan Stanley Mentoring Program provides summer internships at Morgan Stanley for the top students at the program. There's also a great after school theater program, which in conjunction with Epic Theatre Ensemble, has produced lots of young talented actors from the school.
