School Notes:
  • Lima Senior High School is the only high school in the Lima City Schools District. Lima Senior was established in 1955, in Lima, Ohio. When first built, the school had a very small student population, and there was concern that it would not be able to stay open. As the other high schools in Lima were being stutdown due to decreasing population, Lima Senior's student body population was increasing.
  • Lima Senior remained in the same building for 49 years, and one year before the building's fifty year anniversary, it was replaced by a new building. The new Lima Senior contains three small schools, including Performance Based, Progressive Academy, and the School of Multiple Intelligences. Each school has a different method of teaching core classes required by the state, though non-core subjects, such as music, are combined from all three. This has caused frustration since as of fall 2004, the three schools operate on slightly different schedules, causing inefficient use of time in combined classes. The new building was under construction for two years, and was finally finished in 2004.
  • Lima Senior's mascot is the Spartan. They are a member of the Greater Buckeye Conference.Ohio High School Athletic Association State Championships: Baseball - 1964, Football – 1996.
