Hornets set hitting camp, banquet (Muskogee Phoenix)

Hilldale High School has scheduled a hitting camp at the school’s hitting facility at 9 a.m. to noon on Nov. 23. Registration will be 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. on the morning of the camp.

The Hilldale High School Quarterback Club meets at 6:30 p.m.tonight in the field house for the final time this season. Final planning for the banquet will be discussed at that time. The date of the banquet has not been scheduled.

Hilldale Public Schools is an independent school district located in southern Muskogee, Oklahoma (Smith Ferry Rd). The district was started in 1908 as a one-room school and has grown to a current student body of 1800 learners in pre-K through grade 12. Two modern campuses now provide facilities for elementary and secondary needs. Hilldale High School offers many honors and AP courses, including Environmental Science, along with many extracurricular activities, including an Asian Cultural Club. A regular school day is composed of 7 hours(classes) and lasts from 8:00a.m. to 2:55p.m. Nationally, Hilldale also has one of the largest percentages of Native American students.
Despite from having a lower school budget compared to other schools, Hilldale has a reputation of making remarkably higher scores on state standardized tests and ACT tests than other surrounding high schools, such as Muskogee High School and Ft. Gibson High School.
Some extracurricular activities/clubs offered include:NHS, Teens For Christ, Academic Team, SCAT Choir, Hilldale Marching/Concert Band, Nike Club, Astronomy Club, DECA Club, FCCLA, German Club, Spanish Club, French Club, Drama Club, JOM (Native Americans), Hall Monitors Club, and Student Council.
The Hilldale school song is the Hilldale Fight! Song, and the school mascots are the Stinging Hornets; locally, the demonym for a person attending Hilldale is respectably called a "Hilldalelennian".
