For Marshall Elementary School’s Families Helping Families project, students collected canned goods and nonperishable items to be delivered, along with turkeys from the school’s PTO, to 10 needy families in the Orangeburg area.

Lenny Macklin made it to 10th grade before having a teacher who looked like him -- an African-American male. Gregory Georges graduated from high school without ever being taught by a black man.
