Johnson County Community Foundation (JCCF) held a reception on Monday, May 18, 2009 in the Johnson County Board of Education boardroom to honor the nine local area organizations who were recipients of the 2009 Grants Program.

There is a sense of excitement in the halls of the schools in Johnson County. The end of the school year is quickly approaching. There are many special activities in place and the children are elated for summertime fun to begin.

This past week, May 4 through May 8, 2009, was Be Kind to Animals and Rabies Prevention Week. For the children in Johnson County elementary schools, it was an eye opening experience as they were visited by staff from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Wildlife Services, as well as members from Mountain City Animal Control and the Pet Adoption Center located in Johnson County.
City to elect two aldermen; decide on alcohol sales (The Tomahawk)

This year voters in the Town of Mountain City will decide whether to allow alcohol sales in the city limits by voting for or against “the legal sale of alcoholic beverages for consumption on the premises” in addition to filling two seats on the city board of aldermen.
