They came in sporting freshly cropped haircuts but there were certainly no close shaves on this day for the Houston High School cross country team. Led by coaches and officials who have been pioneers in the sport of prep and college wrestling in Tennessee are among the nine men who will be inducted into the Tennessee chapter of the national wrestling hall of fame Saturday, Oct. 24. The sixth annual dinner will be held at the Marriott Nashville Airport.

The Germantown and Houston High School football teams recently played and it was the Red Devils who overcame a 14-point first half deficit to win, 28-14. Germantown running back Sirgregory Thornton carried the offensive load, rushing the ball 25 times for 336 yards and four touchdowns. Thornton had three 80-yard touchdown runs on consecutive carries in the first half.
