It was a special Friday morning for one Central High School student. The 11th-grader, who has been saving for a car the last two years, got handed the keys to a new Kia Optima — her reward for pledging to live a drug-free life.

POLLOK — Overton's baseball team is moving on to the Class A Region III finals after outlasting Lovelady, 16-12, on Friday in Game 2 of a semifinal series. Friday's game was a three-hour and 10-minute marathon which included 28 runs, 24 hits, 19 walks, three hit batters and six errors.
