School Notes:
  • Lewisville High School is part of the Lewisville Independent School District and is located in Lewisville, TX.
  • It is the oldest of the five high schools in the district which was opened in 1897 making it the only school in the district to have celebrated its 100th birthday. It moved to its current campus during the 60s and has been added several times because of Lewisville's large growth. Another addition and renovation is scheduled to happen in the next few years that will add a new band hall and that will renovate the science labs.
  • Their class offerings beside the regular classes like Math, English, Science, and Social Studies, Spanish, French, and German include Advanced Placement courses where you can get college credit and many electives including Band, Choir, Athletics, Art, Orchestra, NJORTC, Debate, and Theater Arts. Many more elective classes are offered at the Dale Jackson Career Center.
  • Lewisville High School consists of two different campuses, Killough Lewisville High School North, which serves only ninth graders, and LHS "Main Campus," which serves tenth through twelfth graders.
  • The school mascot is "Big John", the Fighting Farmer (a reference to Lewisville's early days when it was a rural town between Dallas and Denton, as opposed to the modern suburb of today).
  • Lewisville High School's main rivals are the Marcus High School Mauraders (the schools share the same stadium, located on the LHS campus to the dismay of the Marcus fans) and more recently the Flower Mound High School Jaguars, which are both located in Flower Mound, Texas.
  • The Lewisville High School Band's slogan is "The Band That Marches with Pride."
  • The Fighting Farmer High Football Team were State Champions in 1993 and 1996, State Finalists in 1973, and State Semifinalists in 1979.
  • Feeder Schools: Lewisville High School has several schools that feed into it.
  • Middle Schools: The four feeder middle schools are DeLay, Hedrick, Huffines, and Durha.
  • Elementary Schools: The eleven feeder elementary schools are Parkway, Hedrick, Degan, Valley Ridge, College Street, Southridge, Creekside, Rockbrook, Central, Lakeland, and part of Vickery.
  • State Championships Football: 1972: 3A - Uvalde 33, Lewisville 27.
  • 1993: 5A Division II - Lewisville 43, Aldine MacArthur 37.
  • 1996: 5A Division I - Lewisville 35, Plano East 14.
  • Future Southern High School: As of July, 2006, a new high school is planned that will relieve Lewisville High School, and will be built in Southern Lewisville south of FM 3040. Lewisville High School is supposed to have more than 4000 students in the sometime near future, and the campus site has little room for expansion (among other things, the City of Lewisville would have to demolish a recently-built and highly profitable water park, which the City would most likely not be willing to do), which is the main reasoning for the school district wanting to build a new high school. No date has been set to build it, but there was a task force created and at a school board meeting the task force presented their ideas which included building a new high school in Southern Lewisville. It would start out as a ninth grade campus that Hedrick and Durham Middle School would feed into while Huffines and Delay Middle School would still feed into LHS North. After a certain amount of time, the southern ninth grade campus would eventually become a full high school that would include ninth through twelfth graders and both high schools should have about 2000 students.
