Students and teachers at La Presa Middle School decided to take action when they saw an increase in bullying at the Spring Valley campus. They formed a group called Survivors of Violence this school year to discourage students from picking on others, said Nichi Whitaker, a science teacher who is one of the groups’ advisers. -

Firefighters Tuesday quickly doused a brush fire that broke out behind La Presa Middle School in Spring Valley, according to a fire dispatcher.
