School Notes:
  • Skyline High School is a public high school in Millcreek Township in Salt Lake County, Utah, USA. Skyline serves tenth, eleventh, and twelfth graders. The school opened in 1964 and is administered by the Granite School District.
  • Admission to Skyline High School is open enrollment. Students are neither required to take an admission exam nor need to live within the boundaries set by the administering district.
  • Skyline is regarded by some as one of Utah's best high schools for its established student programs. Academically, it is one of just four Utah schools to offer the IB Diploma Programme, along with Hillcrest High School, Hunter High School, and West High School. Skyline's music and drama programs have received state-wide recognition. In addition, Skyline repeatedly wins Sterling Scholar awards at the state level every year. The debate program also ranks at the region and state levels. In the past five years, four Skyline students were selected as US Presidential Scholars. Skyline also leads the state in National Merit Finalists.
  • Athletics
  • Skyline used to be a football powerhouse in Utah. The football program peaked in the late 1990s winning five state championships in a row (1995-1999) and contesting the state championship nine straight years (1995-2003). The Eagles also took state in 5-A football in 1967, 1969, 1970, 1976, 1977, 1979, 1990, 1993, and 2005. In 2005 the team went into the playoffs ranked fourth in the region, but won four straight games including rival Brighton High School in the state championship game.
  • Skyline's swim teams hold a seven year dynasty (2001-2008) at the state competition.
  • The Skyline lacrosse team is also a very proud organization. Skyline had its inaugural season as an independent team in the spring of 1997, after competing jointly in 1996 with Brighton High School due to a lack of participation. The team has been a contender for the state championship on a number of occasions. In 2005 Skyline won the state championship.
  • In both 2008 and 2009 Skyline has won the 4X800 meter relay at the Davis High School Track and Field Invitational. The most recent success was brought about by the powerhouse talents of Isaac Hales, Kevin Wagstaff, Jeff Daw, and Morgan Empey.
  • Skyline's Baseball program won an American Legion State Championchip in 1991.
  • Newspaper
  • Skyline's school newspaper is "The Horizon," which is a monthly publication. The staff consists of eleven editors and numerous staff writers. The Horizon has four sections: News, Opinion, Feature, and Sports. The current advisor (2009-2010) is R. David Moore.

  • Cheer and sing together we're from Skyline
Shout her praises loudly to the sky
Loyal sons and daughters sing for Skyline
Swell the chorus loudly as we join together
We are proud to say that we're from Skyline
As our voices we all raise in one
We will cheer and sing together
Make the rafters ring as never
Blue and gold of Skyline in the sun
