- Woodrow Wilson Classical High School is a secondary school in Long Beach, California, USA.
- Wilson High School, in the Long Beach Unified School District, opened in 1925 as the second school in the city. In 2005 Wilson High School was recognized as a California Distinguished School for the second time. Wilson also is home to the Distinguished Scholars program which offers accelerated, honors, and many AP classes. Wilson High School is extremely diverse in race and economic backgrounds. Wilson high school also has a program called Park Avenue that helps to allow students the opportunity to raise their grades. Former Wilson students and their teacher Erin Gruwell also inspired the movie Freedom Writers, that was made of the collected diaries of the students.
- School uniforms
-
Wilson is one of the few public high schools in the United States that requires a school uniform (one other high school, and all primary schools in the Long Beach Unified School District require school uniforms). The uniform is khaki pants, skirts or shorts, with either white or burgundy collared shirts. [1]. The school colors are cardinal and gold, and the school mascot is the Bruin. The school site committee has recently passed a highly disputed uniform rule which requires that all jackets be of school colors, as opposed to the old rule which allowed heavy jackets of other colors when merited by weather conditions. There is currently a student movement developing to challenge the new rule at future Site Council Meetings.
