VIRGINIA BEACH The former president of an elementary school parent-teacher group wanted on 21 felony charges has been arrested, police said. Amanda Byrd, 37, of the 900 block of W. Ocean View Ave. in Norfolk, turned herself in to police Wednesday about 7:40 p.m. after the evening news, according to a police news release. She was released on $15,000 bond.

VIRGINIA BEACH – A former PTA president is wanted on embezzlement and other charges. Police say Amanda Byrd stole $7,000 from the organization at Lynnhaven Elementary School by cashing seven forged checks before she resigned in December 2008.

Virginia Beach Police are looking for a woman suspected of embezzling money from the Lynnhaven Elementary School Parent-Teacher Association. Amanda Byrd, 37, formerly of the 3500 block of Boyd Road, is wanted on 21 felony charges, including seven counts each of forgery, uttering and obtaining money by false pretense.
