- Controversy
-
In September 2003, Elma High School made news when the administration banned cheerleaders' short skirts. Short skirts are allowed only at games and performances, not the hallways or classrooms. Parents argued that the new rule devalues the hard work the girls put into practicing, keeping up good grades, and raised money to buy the expensive uniforms.
- Volleyball players are not allowed to wear their uniforms on game days even after school throughout the halls as it is against dress code to wear spandex.
