If Santa mingles with the Tooth Fairy, he might want to mention Coy Gmeinder, who would like his two front teeth for Christmas. Sitting on a curb drinking hot chocolate and eating popcorn, the 6-year-old ran down his wish list on Friday at the Holiday Parade.

There was plenty of food, prepared and served by plenty of volunteers. All they needed were some guests. When Portage Cafe co-owners Kevin Kasten and Tricia Mumm opened the cafe's doors for a free Thanksgiving dinner Thursday, there weren't many takers, at least not in the first hour.
