- Withrow High School is a public high school located in the east side of Cincinnati, Ohio. It is part of the Cincinnati Public Schools. The school opened in 1919, its mascot is the Tiger, and the school colors are Black and Orange.
- The school is known for its arching entry bridge, clock tower, plantings and trees, campus, and large sports complex.
- Academics
-
Withrow High School students have received national recognition for their academic achievements. Withrow has received the highest rating ("Excellent") on the Ohio standardized tests three times since 2004. Additionally, the school has graduated 100% of its seniors and nearly all of them have received college scholarships in 2006.
- Withrow currently operates two academic programs: Withrow International High School and Withrow University High School. The Withrow University program opened to high school freshmen in the Fall of 2002. This class became Withrow University's first graduating class on May 19, 2006. The International Program dates back to the 1980s.
- Remodernization
-
Since 2000, Withrow has undergone a total remodernization from the inside out. All classrooms are now state-of-the-art and a modern media center and cafeteria have been included. A new gymnasium and a revamped football complex have been added from gifts provided by alumni and the National Football League Cincinnati Bengals. The Withrow sports complex facilities are now suitable for state playoff games.
- School traditions
-
Withrow has maintained many important traditions over the years. The Withrow Band has been recognized nationally many times and has been chosen to march in the Independence Day Parade in Washington, D.C. in 2008. Withrow students and teachers put on two variety shows for many years: The Withrow Minstrels and the Sounds of Withrow. Artifacts from Withrow's nearly 90 year history are maintained in The Withrow Museum. Withrow grads have placed hundreds of testimonials on engraved bricks all around the entrance to the school. Encouraging quotations are carved into the buildings and tower at Withrow to motivate all who come there to succeed.
- Community support
-
Withrow is backed by many supporters in its community. The Withrow Band Boosters work to see that the band has the equipment and funds for its schedule each year. An active alumni association with over 25,000 members operates a website at http://www.WithrowAlumni.com. Recent pictures, links to booster activities, historical articles, and news about the latest developments at Withrow can be found there. Tours of the school and opportunities for volunteering can be arranged with the alumni association by telephoning (513) 363-9085.
