The Reno Philharmonic is scheduled to put on a concert, "Mr. Smith's Bowl of Notes," at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts, 100 S. Virginia St. The concert surveys music of the past 400 years and explains the stylistic differences and similarities between the baroque, classic, romantic and modern periods of music.

Biofuel will simultaneously be created by children nationwide today as part of the 4-H National Science Day experiment, "Biofuel Blast." Children will learn how cellulose and sugars in plants can be converted into fuel and how alternative energy can be used in their community.
