Southwest Miami High School is a secondary school located at 8855 SW 48 Terrace in Miami, Florida, USA; its principal is James R. Haj. School colors are purple, black, and white.
History
Southwest Miami High School was founded on September 1956 as Southwest Miami Junior-Senior High School. The school was built to alleviate overcrowding at neighboring schools Miami High School, and Coral Gables High School. Featuring grades 7-10, the school eventually converted to a high school in 1959 upon graduating its first senior class. This school is currently a "B" school.

Southwest Miami HS is 87% Hispanic, 9% White non-Hispanic, 2% Asian, and 2% Black.
Athletic achievements
In the year 2008 the schools Football Varsity team won the District Championship for the first time in school history; defeating Coral Park, Sunset, Braddock, Varela, and Ferguson High schools. Cross Country also made it to states in 2007 and 2008 coming in 16th place in the state of Florida (2008)
