Bonny Eagle High School is a public high school located in Standish, Maine, United States. The school is a part of Maine School Administrative District 6, which serves the towns of Buxton, Hollis, Limington, Frye Island, and Standish. Remodeling was recently finished on the front of the school.
Sports & interscholastic activities
Football
Bonny Eagle's football program has achieved four state championships in the past five years, capturing the Class�A Maine State Championships in 2004, 2005, 2007, and 2008. The team was undefeated in the 2004 and 2007 seasons.
Robotics
The Bonny Eagle Robotics Team, aka BERT, has won 13 awards in 13 years. It competed in the US FIRST Robotics competition.
School name
Bonny Eagle and the surrounding area is said to have achieved its unusual name when a Scotsman (as the area formerly had high concentration of Scottish people), standing on a bridge over the Saco River, looked up and saw an eagle. Supposedly, the Scotsman remarked "What a bonny eagle," bonny being a synonym for beautiful. Thus, the school's mascot is the Scots..
