I don't think "woodi" was in all the classrooms at SCS. My child is in junior high. We started part-way through the year and there was a friendly, welcoming evironment. The lead teacher is a highly-trained, certfied Montessori teacher who, in fact, was a Montessori student. She is a true believer in the Montessori philosophy. It is true that Montessori doesn't work for all children. It is best to start early so the self-discipline needed is acquired. Montessori values include treating everyone with respect and that training begins in Kindergarten. Children who are accustomed to being externally directed all the time or spend much of their time at home absorbing passive entertainment may have a hard time adjusting to the work plan model. I find the work plan a great practice tool for grown-up time management skills. I believe Sedona Charter School is equiping my child with 21st century skills for further training and any profession.

Classrooms are crowded with poor teacher supervision. There seems to be rampant bullying with inadequate administrative policies. Classrooms are filthy and noisy. Teachers seem to come and go and lack true Montessori skills. The overall learning experience is sub-par and barely meets state requirements. A true waste of your childs education at this school!
