The school is pretty good. The deans care about the students. They yell at students, but only to keep them safe. If someone bullies anyone, the staff would know what to do. The staff just want to keep everyone safe and happy. Shallow has a pretty bad reputation, but that's only because of the bad students there. There are as many good kids as there are bad kids.

This school has changed alot from reading the comments. The school is now a safe community and staffs take bullying and any uninvited activity very seriously. The curriculums has also improved greatly and being here for 3 years now, we are taking the algebra 1, us history and living enviornments regents. The teachers are all extremely caring and do their jobs. They respect all the students and treat each other the same. There are yearly science and social studies fairs. Many clubs also exist to hold the interest of students. 02,05,06,08,10 are regents classes so you get more difficult curriculums and if you do well in a regular class you can get moved to one of those classes. I was moved from an regular class to the superintendent class. 609 to 702 and now 802. Extremely proud school and proud of being in this school. The principal is extremely caring and so are the assistant principals, deans and guidance counselors. Safe and clean environment and just keep doing your best and you'll do well. I'm also allowed to participate in the ny state science and engineering fair. Let's go shallow!

This school is terrible. The administration is clueless, the teachers couldn't care less and a lot of the students are unruly and undisciplined. Threats, cursing (at teachers), physical violence, the list goes on and on. The teachers rely on textbooks to do their job, and the principal shrugs everything off. Reading isn't a priority, which is why only 24% of last years 6th grade class could read. This school needs to be revamped, otherwise we will putting out another generation of kids who cannot function in today's society.
