School Reviews

I am the Director of Bands for Waltrip High School. I am also an alum, graduating in 1995. Our Waltrip High has a great tradition of excellence. Although we do have a magnet program attached to our campus, we are a true comprehensive high school. Based on the data listed above, we have seen a drastic improvement over the last three years. We are adding more and more rigor to our academics through our AP Capstone program. We have a growing Montessori program, a new 3DE program and outstanding STEM magnet. We have an array of athletics available to all students. Of course, our fine arts programs, in many ways, are second to none in the Houston ISD. Speaking directly about the band program, we were named a top 5 Title I music program in the country in 2018. We have been invited to numerous federal, state and local special events. Our award-winning band program has also performed at the events for the NFL Super Bowl, NCAA Final Four and 2013 Presidential Inauguration Celebration in Washington, D.C. Waltrip High School in its urban setting has a family feel to it. My own kids attend and are thriving in this community, just as I did. Can't Hide that Ram Pride!! #theWaltripWay
