I am the Optional STEM Coordinator at Whitehaven Elementary STEM School(WESS) and I have been working here for 6 years. WESS is truly the BEST! We create a learning environment that feels like home. We thrive on fostering positive relationships with our Innovators and their families. STEM is our culture and it is what we do! Innovators are engaged in STEM labs, over 20 after school STEM Clubs, and STEM Career Exploration! Our Innovators are coding, building and programming robots, as well as using VR headset to explore STEM Careers! Our Fall Annual STEM event is our World Edible Insect Day celebration where students donate $2 to witness teacher and staff eating bugs! All proceeds go to our STEM Community partner, Clean Memphis! Our Spring Annual STEM event is our Annual STEM Expo where we invited our STEM Community partners on campus to engage our Innovators in a fun day of hands-on STEM activities! We have STEM Community partnerships with St. Jude, AgriCenter International, Clean Memphis, The U of M, Little Medical School of the Mid-South and many more!
