School Reviews

I went here years ago so my memory might be rusty. I also had an unpleasant experience for reasons beyond the school''s control (went to a different MS than all the friends I made in Elementary, general bullying). I guess I wanted to reflect a bit. Much as I hated it there, it did significantly shape my personality and I can look back upon it with a detached view. Good; Decent selection of electives, good Science, History, and LA teachers. Campbell actually scored the highest on History exams out of all middle schools one year and I believe it still does. It has all the extracurriculars you expect an MS to have. Bad; The math teachers at the school are awful. I understood very little of my Algebra or Geometry class and frequently made Cs. I know it''s not because I''m weak in the subject because I did much, much better at math in HS. That said, they did offer Saturday reviews for Geometry, something no other Middle School did to my knowledge. They were pretty good and are the reason I passed my Geometry EOC at all. The guidance is clueless on how to resolve conflict as are the teachers. For the most part, they just tell you to toughen up and nothing else. This could be an issue across all middle schools, but if your kid has trouble with another student don''t trust guidance to be good at dealing with it. It''s hard to comment on the environment because Middle School is a terrible time for everyone. It''s the only MS I''ve been to so I can''t how bad CMS is in comparison. But the kids there talked about fighting a LOT. The school cracked down on the issues of actual fights, not just talking about them, in my 7th-grade year, but expect to see students that are pretty aggressive physically. Try to avoid sending your kids here if possible purely because the math teachers are terrible. Otherwise, I imagine your kid will have an average middle school experience. I don''t know anyone who liked MS and that likely won''t change no matter what MS your kid goes to.

I know all the bad things people say about this school, but truly it's the people that make the school bad. I've seen horrible things happen at the school but it's improved so much. The dress code has changed, they hired better staff, more opportunities. Fights and stuff happen at every school so it''s understandable. I graduate from it in 2022 and it''s truly a good school

I was a student there for 2 years. I am now in 10th grade. I miss that school so much. The principal was amazing. I don't know if he is still working there. Some students make that school bad. But the teachers are amazing and will help anyone with any issues. I had a few problems with light bullying and I spoke to my science teacher. As they punished the kids with a warning. After that, they switched my classes. The teachers try their best. The students don't really work. They fool around and don't care about their grades.

This school needs a total overhaul. This is one of the most dysfunctional schools. Volusia county school district should be ashamed.
