I had the opportunity to speak with your second year math teacher, Mr. VanLoon. I would like to state I am very pleased rhat teachers who genuinely care about our students and their education still exist and so proud of our administration for selecting this teacher. He has brought a math aptitude to a higher level and my grand daughter enjoys math again.

You know, I was always known as the kid here who bugged the crap out of the teachers. I miss it. I talked down to a lot of stuff here when I did go here, but just having graduated in June 2020 and then being thrown into adulthood makes me miss the security and comfort of being able to come into the school and talk with everyone. Most of the teachers here (at least currently) are some of the most caring and sweet people I know. Sure, we may have awful math scores but that's because we're all the queer kids who can't do math. Mrs Lancaster has to be my favorite teacher (sorry guys). Not only did she gender me correctly without hesitation when I did come out, but she was always understanding and sweet. If it wouldn't have been for her Theater program, I would still be the shy little dysphoric idiot I was when I first got there. I wouldn't have the lifelong friends that I do now. If you want a school that has staff that cares about it's students, I couldn't recommend EHS more (at least for now). You may not realize it when you're there, but if you come back and visit like I did, you'll realize just how much you really do miss it. I only took off one star because of our horrible test scores and because of the amount of times I was dead named and mis gendered by just a few staff even after I had told them (for at least one of them it was completely on purpose). I believe the staff need to be trained on acceptance of diverse students, especially LGBTQ+ ones, as it is lacking there.
