I speak fluent mandarin and thought it would be easy to help my child along with the Mandarin immersion program. Boy am I wrong. I am so in awe of how dedicated the teachers are in William land elementary. They go beyond normal duties to take on the huge task to teach mostly nonheritage student body the mandarin language. They don''t get to pay extra for taking on this task. Learning English takes time but imaging the daunting task of teaching English and mandarin. I applaud these teachers and the principal. I thank you for trying and making my daughter literate in mandarin. No school is perfect but the effort put in by the teachers we had so far was absolutely 10/10. I am so looking forward for my two sons to start school because it is just such an awesome school.

William Land Elementary strives for excellence, fosters leadership, and community within the student body. I had one child who has graduated and is doing very well in middle school and has 2 remaining kids who still go there. Even though they have had major budget cuts and have a majority low-income student body, the principal has managed to secure grants in leadership for staff development so they could promote student leadership and focus in the arts that are unique (ukele, theatre arts, arts, music). The teachers that we have experienced go over and beyond in many ways, and is demonstrated during the distant learning. While many other schools were still trying to figure their way, our teachers worked overtime to get material out, and try to engage students through their assignments. Although not perfected, their dedication and commitment to students showed during this challenging time.

The William Land Elementary is a racist school. Some teachers are under qualified, rude, and self-centered. These teachers including the principal Ellen Lee Carlson do things based on how they feel at the moment and what is the easiest for them. Bullying is an ongoing thing in this school as they blindly pushing for academic points to make them look good. This place is chaotic and harmful to our children. These staff should be ashamed of themselves as they're supposed to be the role model for our kids.
